Hmmm sipping the darjeeling chai ... the very chai we brought when we went there 2 years ago. I always thought darjeeling was in assam (isn't it ????) ... we were what they call 'young and restless' . Those were the days ... it rained and rained and rained .. we had a broken scooter, with only flying gear. Thats when rupu realized she wanted to be a pilot ... we had no money in our pockets(is there ever any other situation?). I sat on the back seat of that broken scooter with a open umbrella and a cap type helmet .
We stopped at a 'house' shop, we decided to sit at the back porch of the aunty's house and waited for 'wai wai' to cook. The grandma of the house kept smiling at us and the cute north-eastern child kept running across the porch ...

.............. this is the journey we met that heart broken cab driver.Our cab got broke on the way to darjeeling. We were just at the footstep of this huge mountain, so full of vegetation. The path we were on just got lost somewhere in the mountain....we were waiting for some other cab to pass by, all the people were roaming all around. The driver got nostalgic on hearing where we were from. He was from a village near NJP and spent his twentys in chandigarh, away from home, stuggling, trying to make a life so he could marry the girl he loved. He used to play guitar in a band ....He said in thier times it was not that easy, they both just knew they were there for each other, they never confessed thier love face to face but both knew...when he went to chandigarh he used to call her from there and she used to hide from her family and talk to him... he returned after four years and tried to gave her a surprise ... she had been married to someone else .... he stopped playing guitar, quit his music forever.....

I close my eyes and can still hear him tell the story, I still remember the view from that cab window....
